Golden Tofu with Nutritional Yeast

Take your next tofu dish to a new level with the addition of nutritional yeast. The slightly nutty and somewhat cheese-like nature of this seasoning make an amazing dish out of what is often a bland and tasteless protien. And better yet, it's naturally in low calories.

This recipe for Golden Tofu is the perfect place to begin your love affair.

Another easy recipe, the ingredients include:
  • Block of extra-firm tofu, drained for 30 minutes then cut into 8 slices
  • 2-4 T. Peanut oil
  • 1-2 tsp. Soy sauce
  • 1/4 C. Nutritional yeast (found in the organic/natural foods section) poured into a bowl
To prepare, add enough peanut oil to cover the bottom of frying pan and heat on medium high. Gently pat dry each of your eight slices of tofu then cook til light brown on both sides. Remove from pan and allow to drain on a plate lined with paper towels. After all the tofu has browned, add another 1-2 T peanut oil and return tofu to pan. Lightly drizzle soy sauce over tofu and allow it to cook again on both sides until a golden brown. Remove from pan, let drain slightly, then dredge each piece in nutritional yeast. Serve with a side of brown rice and stir fried vegetables.
